Sign our Petition - Pro-Life Voters to Withhold Their Vote Until Candidates Reverse Course

WHEREAS, the Constitution of South Carolina promises equal protection of the laws to every human being; and

WHEREAS, legislation such as S.1095, which passed out of the Senate Committee on Medical Affairs on April 21st of this year by a vote of 8–4, seeks to take a significant step toward fulfilling that constitutional promise by making abortion illegal for everyone involved in the unjust taking of human life; and

WHEREAS, during a live statewide debate ON THE SAME DAY, April 21st of this year, both candidates in the 2026 Republican Primary Runoff for Governor, Pam Evette and Alan Wilson, publicly vowed that they would veto S.1095, stating that the bill “goes too far”; and

WHEREAS, Equal Protection South Carolina (EPSC) holds that such a position is incompatible with the most basic duty of civil government, namely to protect innocent human beings without discrimination.

THEREFORE, be it resolved that unless Pam Evette and/or Alan Wilson reverse their stated position and commit to supporting legislation such as S.1095 that makes abortion illegal for everyone, the undersigned will not vote for either candidate in the Republican primary runoff; and

FURTHER resolved, that if either candidate does reverse their position and commits to considering and supporting any pro‑life bill passed by the General Assembly, including equal protection legislation, the undersigned will consider voting for that candidate in the primary runoff; and

FURTHER resolved, that this resolution is not about personalities or party loyalty, but about principle, the Constitution, and justice for the preborn; and

FURTHER resolved, that South Carolina deserves leaders who will uphold equal protection without compromise, and the undersigned hereby affirm their commitment to that standard.
